If you are opening a new office, chances are you are considering a new web site, as well. For many doctors, this is a natural step. You’ve made a big investment in a new space and you want to show it off properly. In many cases, a new office and location is expected to lead to a strong surge in new business. And, part of developing that increase in business is often making the practice‘s web site more competitive.
So, how do most doctors do it? Here are some tips:
1) Start early. Most companies who are familiar with cosmetic surgery or cosmetic dentistry can produce a quality web site in 8-10 weeks. The hold up, if there is one, is normally response time from the client. Delays in approvals, getting content, supplying new pictures, etc. can lead to lengthy delays. In a situation where you are moving to a new office, you will actually have more time BEFORE you relocate. Moving and ironing out the bugs in the new place can take weeks or months. My recommendation is always to have the site finished before you move in, if possible.
2) Don’t get too enamored with exterior shots of your building. This is the biggest visual mistake made most commonly: the glamour shot of your building on the home page. Yes, we know you are proud of what you built but no building says “cosmetic procedure.” When visitors come to your web site, they want to see images that help them visualize whether or not the service is right for them.
3) Make a long-term investment. You are making a long-term investment in your new office; you should be making a long-term investment in your web site as well. You want to be able to refresh your web site and reinvent it now and then without having to redesign it. By selecting a site format with a content manager, that can be accomplished easily. And, thinking long-term means evaluating all the ways your needs might change. For instance, what happens when more people start coming to your site via mobile devices? Dog Star Media has overcome this issue with our Mission Control web site, which offers one content manager to manage both the standard and the mobile site. This way, you make one change and it can go to both the standard and the mobile sites. That is long-term thinking!
So, if you are opening a new office and are ready to make this move or, if you are just ready for a new, more competitive web site, why not consider Mission Control? Please contact me at donald@dogstarmedia.com if we can help.
