We all know online reviews are having a big impact on our businesses... but why? To answer that question, you also have to ask, why is word of mouth so effective?
Online reviews are like word of mouth. Only an online review has the potential to do broad and lasting good or damage, depending on the content. To get to the bottom of why this form of buzz is so effective in swaying opinions, you have to understand how people form opinions.
Opinions are formed by three things, generally: someone’s experience, what someone has read or learned on their own or what someone tells them. The critical point here is that an online review is only information. If you view it neutrally that way, you can see how it fits into a shopper’s big picture. In the case of a cosmetic procedure of a high-value purchase, the shopper is going to come to you with an opinion. They are not a blank slate. If they have no experience with such procedures then they likely have formed their opinion by research and by some form of word of mouth. These days, this occurs on the Internet.
Now that you understand this point, there are two things you can do. The first is to take control of your online reviews. We can help you with that using our Review Controller program. This program helps you put only positive reviews you like out on review sites. The second thing you can do it bring up any caller’s opinions when they first call in. If you know the odds are that they have formed opinions based on what they read on the Internet, you can build trust with a caller by asking about how they learned and where they learned it. This communication method can completely change the discussion with a prospect. You can learn this and many other communication skills in our Virtual Sales Managers program.
Are you ready to do better with prospective patients? Do you feel your numbers dropping off because of slipping conversion rates? The market is more competitive than ever so knowing how to manage conversions and online first impressions is critical to being successful these days. We can help you with our Review Controller and Virtual Sales Manager programs. If you are interested in learning more on these programs, contact me at donald@dogstarmedia.com.
